Connecting the Stove to the Gas Supply
To make certain that full-capacity operation is possible, use recommended gas supply line or its equivalent approved connector. Check the city or state ordinances governing gas supply piping.
Use the following steps when connecting the stove to the gas supply:
1. It is desirable, and in some localities required, to install a gas shutoff valve in the gas supply line. Check with the local utility company for the required location of the valve.
3. Remove the main stove top to gain access to the of the gas pressure regulator.
4. It is important to connect the piping or the flexible connector to the stove without placing any strain on any of the assembly.
5. The normal procedure for hooking up the stove rigid pipe is to build the hookup from the stub out in the floor up to a ground joint union.
6. Install a close nipple and the other half of the joint union to the inlet of the gas pressure regulator stove.
7. Place the stove in the proper position and complete the hookup by joining the two valves of the ground joint. Be sure that the two halves of the union are aligned to each other. If the union is tightened without proper alignment, the union may be ruined. Turn the gas supply and check the complete installation for gas leaks, using only an approved bubble leak test solution. Never use flame for leak testing gas piping.
Note: Any opening in the wall behind the stove or in the floor under the stove must be sealed before the stove and placed in position against the wall. Unsealed holes in the walls are considered to be a fire hazard.
Leaks
Are resistant to the action should be used on all threads to prevent leaks, except rags to brass fittings which require no scaling compounds. After the stove has been connected to the gas supply, make sure that all appliances and gas valves are shut off before turning on the gas at the main gas inlet valve at the gas meter. To test for leaks, apply only an approved bubble solution to all connections in the supply line and the stove.
Warning: Never attempt to test for leaks with a lighted catch or any other type. If any leaks are present, bubbles will form at the point leakage. If any leaks are found, turn off the main gas supply before attempting to stop them. After the leak have been stopped, film oil the gas and recheck all joints for leaks before adjusting the stove as described in the adjusting Instructions.
